Cayla's Graduation

Garrett and I made a quick trip to Lubbock on the 19th for my littlest sister's graduation from Tech grad school. She got her masters in accounting and will be starting a job with KPMG in Dallas in the fall. We had a great time! Garrett loved staying at the hotel and getting to swim. He was very good during the graduation too. I know my parents are excited to have their fourth child graduate from Tech and I am looking forward to Cayla living a little closer.

While we were gone Britt took Gaitley out for a little photo shoot in her Christmas outfit.

Gaylord Ice

Last weekend we took the kids to the Gaylord to see the ice exhibit. The theme for this year was How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We bundled up in our own coats, hats and gloves and then were given an extra parka because it was SO cold in there. The parka was huge on Gaitley. She couldn't even move and had to be held the entire time because she couldn't even stand up in her coat. Poor thing, she hated it. Garrett loved it though. We let him watch the movie on the way there and he was amazed at how everything looked just like it did on tv. His favorite part was sliding down the ice slides. Luckily, we got there right when it opened and the line for the slides wasn't too bad. He got to do it five times before it started to get really crowded. It you haven't done this before, I would totally recommend it. You might wait until your kids are about three though so the coats will fit a little better.

A Visit with Santa

We went to Bass Pro Shop and attempted to get a picture with Santa. I really didn't think either one of my kids would sit in his lap, but I thought it would be worth a try. Well I was right. Gaitley was scared to death of him and there was no way Garrett was getting close enough to touch him more less sit in his lap. Garrett really wants a cat for Christmas (which he is not getting) and after seeing Santa he decided he would just go to the shelter and get one. After Gaitley settled down and we realized bribing Garrett was not going to work, we settled for a family picture with Santa. It was not exactly what I wanted, but I guess it will work for this year.

As you can see, we have never really had much luck getting a good picture with Santa.

Tis the Season

We are having such a wonderful holiday season. Both kids are really getting into the Christmas spirit. After we set up the tree, Britt and Garrett put the train set up around the tree skirt. Garrett loves being the conductor and Gaitley enjoys watching the train go around the tree. She is a little afraid of the whistle though. One of my favorite things to pull out this time of year is the Little People Nativity set. We got this when Garrett was a baby and it has been a hit ever since. Gaitley loves carrying around baby Jesus and Garrett tries to teach her the names of all the people and animals. Last but not least, we bundled up in our pajamas and set out to look at Christmas lights. I knew Garrett would love it, but I was surprised to see Gaitley's eyes light up the way they did. She pointed and went on and on about how pretty the lights were.

Fall Photo Shoot

Last weekend we took the kids to the Arboretum for some fall photos with the pumpkins. Of course, it was so hot and I planned for both kids to wear sweaters, so we pretty much just played until it was almost dark. Luckily, we got a few good shots before the sun went down. Our good friends, Adam and Laura, went too. Gaitley and Colton are almost the same age and they had fun holding hands and taking pictures together.

Happy Halloween

Halloween was so much fun this year. Garrett is really learning what it's all about- get to as many houses as you possibly can and get as much candy as your parents will let you. We could barely keep up with him. He was practically running from one house to the next. Gaitley just rode in her wagon and watched all the kids go by. She is learning about all the candy too. We looked back there one time and she had somehow opened several packages of candy and had chocolate all over her face and costume. Garrett picked the costumes for this year. He really wanted to be a fire fighter and I thought it would be cute to make Gaitley a dalmation. He loved the idea. I'm going to dress them alike while I can. Pretty soon they will be too big for that and will want to choose their own costumes.

Cowboys Game

We were lucky enough to land four FREE Cowboys tickets to the game on Sunday against Atlanta. We had great seats and even a parking pass. Britt, Garrett, Britt's dad and I went to the game and Gaitley got to stay home and play with Nanny Carolyn. The new stadium is amazing and it was so fun to get to see it. Garrett loved the game and was very proud of his new Witten jersey and football. All he can talk about is having a football birthday party and he wants to take his friends to the stadium to play football. He did like watching the game, but I think his favorite part was the cheerleaders. They certainly caught his attention!

Ft. Worth Air Show

On Saturday, Britt, Garrett and Papa went to Ft. Worth to the flight show. Garrett loves airplanes and enjoyed getting to see them up close. He even got to walk on the wing of one and get inside another.

Pumpkin Patch

We finally made it out to the Pumpkin Patch over the weekend. Britt's parents were in town and enjoyed helping the kids pick out their pumpkins.
